Relation of Gayatri Mantra and Ramayana

 

Gayatri Mantra is a holy Hindu Mantra chanted everyday while praying to the god.
It is also known as - The Poem of Divine. The Gayatri Mantra was first seen in Rigveda in the verse 3.62.10. It has also appeared in the Bhagavad Gita and also in the Upanishads.

Om bhur bhuvah savaha , Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya dhimahi, Dhiyo Yo nah Prachodayat
                    Meaning
O thou existence absolute, Creator of three dimensions, we contemplate upon divine light. May he stimulate our intellect and bestow upon us true knowledge.

The meaning of each word is described below:
Om- A universal sound
Bhur - Past
Bhuvah- Present
Savah- Future
Tat - That
Savitur- Divine sun
Varenyam - Adore
Bhargo- Illumination
Devasya- Divine grace
Dhimahi- We contemplate
Dhiyo- Intellect
Yo - Who
Nah- Ours
Prachodayat- Praying

By chanting the Gayatri Mantra we can receive the following benefits-

The other fascinating fact about ‘Gaytri Mantra’ is appearance in ‘Walmiki Ramyana’ . It is one of the ancient epic narrated by the ‘Maharshi Walmiki’ which is based on the Hindu god ‘Ram’. It contains 24000 verses but design of these verses shows us ‘Gayatri Mantra’.

          If we have a look on the ‘Gayatri Mantra’ in ‘Devanagari script’ then we get this verse contains 24 letters and Ramayana also has 24000 verses. So if we take first letter of every verse after 1000th we get ‘Gayatri Mantra’. This shows amazing creativity & knowledge of ancient Indians. This is one of the thing that most people do not know.
